Testimonials of our 3-day tour from Ouarzazate to Merzouga

What a journey from Ouarzazate!:

We set off from Ouarzazate, guided by Hassan, our fantastic guide! We had a fantastic trip, all comfort (4WD very clean) till Merzouga when we were surprised by the magnificent dunes of Erg Chebi.
In Merzouga, we had a nice camel ride through the sand dunes. The weather was perfect, and the sunset was spectacular!
Then we were invited inside the tents at the dunes’ border. Excellent organization, both in terms of scheduling and service quality (excellent meal, very comfortable bed, etc.).

Excellent services!:

The desert journey was wonderful, stunningly gorgeous, and the night in Berber tents was an adventure in and of itself! The weather changed three times during the night, so it was a short night, but that’s part of the Sahara’s allure.
The Unique Desert Tour staff is young, from the region, and extremely energetic; I highly suggest them; they were fantastic. Ali is a really nice person; he welcomed us into his family and even invited us to his neighbor’s wedding.

Professional team!:

I Booked this tour with my six-year-old son. It was a short excursion because it left from Ouarzazate, but both parents and children thoroughly loved it and were awestruck by the beauty of the desert. We had planned to visit just Zagora Desert, which is a little closer, but we are pleased we managed to visit the two deserts. If there is a next time, I would like to take my time and appreciate the desert of Merzouga! Thank you so much Unique Desert Tour!

Camping in the desert, wonderful!:

Everything is in order here! I got a fantastic sensation since I was able to explain all questions in advance by e-mail. This was emphasized by the genuine, pleasant guides. It was attempted to incorporate everyone into the community; they also speak a variety of languages. The camp was well equipped and decorated, and nothing was lacking for supper or breakfast the next morning! Music, dancing, sandboarding, stargazing, and viewing dawn and sunset give additional entertainment and activities!

A 3-day tour from Ouarzazate to Merzouga highlights overview

Ouarzazate, the cinema city:

Our 3-day tour itinerary from Ouarzazate to Merzouga Desert via Zagora starts in the cinema city of Ouarzazate. The latter is the gate to the Sahara desert of Merzouga.

The Atlas Studios, which are very popular in this city, have attracted over the years a lot of tourists from different nationalities.

Scenes and episodes from Gladiator, The Mummy, Alexander, and Got were shot there. Also, the location was used to film episodes of the fifth season of the American TV show Prison Break.

Ouarzazate is definitely one of the most popular destinations for tourists that come to visit the country to discover new ideas and lifestyles.

Zagora:

Zagora, also known as the Moroccan Sahara Desert Gate, is located in south-eastern Morocco at the foot of the Anti-Atlas Mountains and on the coast of the Draa Valley. The vast Draa Valley, which is still home to many Berber tribes, is largely responsible for Zagor’s allure. Zagora refers to the mountain that overlooks the city from the shore of the Draa Valley. Draa was the town’s ancient name. The town was not renamed Zagoro until the twentieth century; however, some Bedouins nearby still refer to it as Draa in their everyday talks. When traveling from the sub-Saharan areas, trade caravans traveled via Zagora and the Draa Valley on their way to their final destination, Marrakech.

Merzouga, the Sahara desert:

The desert of Merzouga is surely the highlight of all our Morocco tours that start from Casablanca, Marrakech, Tangier, Agadir, Ouarzazate, Fes, and Errachidia. Camel rides, ATV quads, Gnaoua music, and camping in the desert are all activities that should be tried in Merzouga. Because we live in the desert of Merzouga and we know the place very well, we are experts in desert trips.

Erg Chebbi is a big Sahara desert near Merzouga.  Lala Merzouga, which is the biggest dune in Merzouga, may surpass 150 meters in height. With a top view of the city and the lake of Srij, you can enjoy a magical sunset or sunrise.

Thousands of tourists visit Merzouga each year to reveal its hidden treasure. When visiting Morocco, camel trekking is a must-do activity.

Erfoud city:

Erfoud has an illustrious past. It is stationed at the Tafilalet entrance, south of the Ziz valley. It was the starting point for all treks across the Merzouga dunes. The city has all of the infrastructure required to welcome visitors. It is an excellent starting place for exploring the desert and seeing Merzouga, Taouz, Tazzarine, and the Ziz valley.

Local artists and craftspeople make beautiful and functional items out of petrified stone (the Erfoud stone).
